Hawker Sea Fury Aircraft Overview
The Hawker Sea Fury is a British fighter aircraft that was developed by Hawker Aircraft in the late 1940s. It was designed to operate from aircraft carriers and was intended to replace the Hawker Sea Hurricane and Supermarine Seafire in Royal Navy service.
The Sea Fury was powered by a Bristol Centaurus 18-cylinder radial engine and had a top speed of over 450 mph. It was armed with four 20mm Hispano cannons and could also carry bombs and rockets.
The Sea Fury entered service with the Royal Navy in 1947 and was used in the Korean War, where it proved to be a capable fighter against both air and ground targets. In addition to its service with the Royal Navy, the Sea Fury was also used by other countries, including Australia, Canada, and Pakistan.
Overall, more than 800 Sea Furies were produced, making it one of the most successful British naval fighters of the post-World War II era.
