Grumman F-11 Tiger Aircraft Overview

The Grumman F-11 Tiger is a supersonic, single-seat fighter aircraft that was designed and built by Grumman Aerospace Corporation in the late 1950s. It was primarily used by the United States Navy and served as a carrier-based fighter aircraft.

The F-11 Tiger was designed to replace the F9F Cougar, and it was notable for its sleek and aerodynamic design, as well as its high speed and maneuverability. It was equipped with a single Pratt & Whitney J57 turbojet engine, which gave it a top speed of over Mach 1.6.

The F-11 Tiger saw limited combat service during the Vietnam War, where it was used primarily in a ground attack role. It was eventually retired from service in the early 1970s, after more than a decade of service with the U.S. Navy.

Although the F-11 Tiger was not as famous as some other aircraft of its era, it was an important aircraft in the development of supersonic fighter technology, and it helped to pave the way for future generations of fighter aircraft.
