Avro was a British aircraft manufacturer that operated from 1910 until 1963. The company was founded by Alliott Verdon Roe and was originally named A.V. Roe and Company.

During World War I, Avro produced a variety of military aircraft, including the Avro 504, which was used for training and reconnaissance. After the war, the company continued to produce military aircraft, and it also began to develop commercial aircraft. During World War II, Avro produced a number of military planes, including the Avro Lancaster bomber, which was used by the Royal Air Force. The Lancaster was one of the most successful bombers of the war and was used in a variety of missions, including the famous “Dambusters” raid.
