Junkers Flugzeug und Motorenwerke AG

Junkers Flugzeug und Motorenwerke AG (also known as JFM, Junkers, or Junkers Aircraft and Motor Works) was a German aircraft manufacturer founded by Hugo Junkers in 1895. The company was initially focused on developing and manufacturing engines, but in 1910 it began producing its first aircraft, the Junkers J 1, a pioneering all-metal monoplane.

Over the years, Junkers became known for its innovative aircraft designs, particularly those that incorporated metal construction, which was a departure from the traditional wood and fabric construction methods of the time. Some of the company’s most famous designs include the Junkers Ju 52 transport plane, the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka dive bomber, and the Junkers Ju 88 multirole aircraft, all widely used by the German Luftwaffe during World War II.

Junkers also made contributions to aviation technology outside of aircraft design, including the development of the opposed piston engine and some of the first jet engines.

After World War II, Junkers was dissolved as a company, but its legacy continues to be felt in the aviation industry today. Explore all aircraft and warplanes from Junkers, including the company’s history, pictures, and a complete airplane database.
